Goals
to address the real needs of the community as part of PT Nestlé Indonesia's program.
Project Summary
The Mahia de Kognita Team, through PT Dinamika Mandiri Perdana, conducted a social mapping activity in Tanggulangin Village, Kejayan District, Pasuruan Regency, East Java. This activity was carried out as part of the program design for PT Nestlé Indonesia, aiming to address the real needs of the community.
The field activities included Focus Group Discussions (FGD), Key Informant Interviews (KII), and transect walks. The consultant team gathered information using qualitative methods (FGD and KII) with several community elements in the village, namely: the Village Government, the Head of the PKK (Family Welfare Empowerment), Posyandu (Integrated Health Post) cadres, elementary school teachers, Public Health Center (Puskesmas) staff, and staff from PT Nestlé. The goal of this activity was to provide an in-depth overview of the social, economic, and cultural conditions of the village community.
A valuable lesson from the results of the social mapping confirms that the most crucial part of the mapping process is not merely data collection, but rather gaining a deep understanding of the social structure, patterns of interaction among actors, and the role of local institutions that shape community life. Through this understanding, community development strategies can be formulated to be more contextual, participatory, and sustainable, in line with the actual social dynamics.
